RESIDENT ARTISTS 2021/2022
The Gastronomy Guild carries out research and collective action around gastronomy understood as a relational space, to debate and reflect on some of the cultural, social, political and ecological challenges facing our contemporary society today, and to build a living interspecies community.
With the guild's actions, it aims to make catalytic proposals for open debates and to extract logics of interspecies collaboration for application in broader areas, through community co-creation laboratories with agents of the territory; to propose public activations that use food as a device for interspecies, intersectional and transdisciplinary mediation, to create gastronomic experiences that dialogue with the contents and processes, the lines of research and training proposed by the Santa Mònica.
The guild is also in charge of documenting dynamics that take place inside and outside the pots and pans to be applied in collective and institutional actions; to embody the imaginaries of how what we eat configures a marker of individual and collective identities; to work to describe the multiple meanings and functions of food, as well as the imperceptible impact of our individual choices on the global environment, generating possibilities for future scenarios where sustainability and cures are central; and finally, to create networks of artists, activists, cooks, local producers and neighbours to experiment with ways of inhabiting institutional space through food.
