CREATION AND EXPERIMENTATION

The Mòniques are artists-in-residence at Santa Mònica who experiment in the relational or participatory field in a collective and transdisciplinary way, organized into seven guilds: communication, digitalization, publishing, education, spaces, gastronomy, and participation.

Selected annually through a public call, they develop prototypes of artistic mediation devices to open up the centre’s content, discourses, and questions to diverse audiences.

Research groups are spaces of thought that explore contemporary issues and concerns. Instead of creating concrete works, they function as laboratories of ideas that influence everything done at the centre. Their research is transformed into ideas and strategies that are tested in the centre as an institutional laboratory, opening new paths to expand them into other areas.

We are a centre for artistic research and activation of experimental processes. That’s why we strive to merge theory and practice in all our projects, creating spaces for constant research and experimentation, trial, and error. Through #SantaMònicaPerDins, we try to explain the complexity of these processes and everything happening at the centre, in real-time and through the multiple voices and bodies that inhabit and shape it.
