About Santa Mònica
Since 2021, our official name has been Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica or simply Santa Mònica. We no longer use the name “Arts Santa Mònica.” The new name consolidates the various names the centre has had in its previous stages.
We are an arts centre dedicated to contemporary creation. You can find more information at The Santa Mònica.
Thank you for your interest in joining Santa Mònica! Check out the Join Santa Mònica section to learn about current opportunities.
No, the centre does not rent out its spaces for events.
However, in specific cases, we may grant space use to non-profit cultural and artistic organizations for events and activities.
About the programme
The curatorial board is responsible for selecting the works and artists, evaluating proposals received through multiple inputs.
Yes, you can send us proposals at info.santamonica@gencat.cat. These will be evaluated by the centre’s team and the curatorial boards working at that time. However, currently, the centre only exhibits its own productions based on debates proposed by the curatorial board.
We periodically open calls for specific projects. For more information, visit the Calls section on our website.
The regular Sala Bar programme is curated annually by different invited artistic collectives, creatives, and entities, offering a diverse and polyphonic range of experimental sessions. You can send your proposal to the programming collective you believe best fits your project for consideration. For more details, visit the “Who We Are” section under The Santa Mònica.
About the Mòniques grants
The research and experimentation grants in artistic mediation in residence usually open between March and April. However, dates may vary. We recommend checking the Calls section.
The grants are aimed at transdisciplinary creators working in the relational or participatory field.
Applications are open to individuals. Collectives cannot apply.
We recommend always reviewing the call’s guidelines for specific requirements.
The residencies last 11 months in a shared space at Santa Mònica. During this time, residents initiate and participate in research processes that result in various prototypes of artistic mediation devices. At the same time, they are invited to share their research lines and resulting prototypes within other education and mediation programmes and projects of the centre. Grant recipients work on-site at Santa Mònica to foster knowledge exchange within the group and the collective dimension of different research processes.
For the latest information on each call, check the Calls section.
