You might be looking for...
An artist’s book, made larger and hung from the ceiling. A compilation of events and remakes, of past and future loves and heartaches, of traces of your body and mine, of joys and sorrows. Every page, every capsule, every memory an invitation to transform ourselves in the margins. Plants, asteroids, insekts and other cosmic contraptions coming from near and far to form a living tapestry of interwoven stories, experiences and friendships. At the centre, light, like a body free of matter, unaware of permanence, convinced of being an imminent thing.
On the other side, memory.
Francesca Llopis
"I was born in the middle of the 20th century and I will die in the middle of the 21st century, halfway between the two centuries, and I ask myself, how is it that we have not freed ourselves from patriarchy, which still generates all this filth and violence that seems to have no end.
I am a citizen of Barcelona, from a city I love and hate. I have also lived in other places to carry out different artistic projects such as New York, London, Kyoto or Hamburg, fleeing and always returning to my port.
I studied art and design at the Eina School, and it was an impact both in the way of seeing the environment and in the discovery of contemporary art. My artistic project was linked to the experience of painting and its poetics.
I have obtained several grants for artistic residencies such as the Teater Studio in Warsaw, the Spanish Academy in Rome, the Eccole de Beaux Arts in Nîmes, the University in Osaka, in Busan (Korea) and recently in Fresh Winds in Iceland.
I have done projects and installations in museums such as MNAC, Museo Picasso, CCCB, Fundació Miró in Barcelona and art centres such as Lübeck, Nîmes, Sakai, etc.
I have exhibited in galleries in Kyoto, New York, Madrid, Paris, Montpeller, Osaka and Barcelona.
I have a special interest in making artist's books and notebooks.
Since 1998 I have made several films and video installations, this language allows me to enter a dreamlike world; with painting I am more linked to the concept and the inner landscape. My daughter Djuna accompanies me from a distance in my projects as I do in hers, and I want them to be made public, as they generate reflection and also astonishment, which is what we like".
