A reading of Francesco Careri's "Walkscapes" and related texts
Activity open to all and free of charge with prior registration: santamonica@gencat.cat
As part of the cycle Losing time to gain space, the Mòniques Spaces, Communication and Participation Guilds are inviting Horacio Espinosa, member of OACU, to lead a reading club on Walkscapes by Francesco Careri and other readings derived from it on 20 and 27 April. We hope that the possibility of reading the text together will motivate us to experience the city and the very act of walking in a different way. Furthermore, we hope that it will activate our curiosity for the rest of the cycle, which will be completed with a talk, a drift with the presence of Francesco Careri.
The dynamics of this activity, as with any book club, involves reading. Participants will therefore be asked to read the entire Walkscapes book before the activity, which is accessible and easily engaging. In the reading club, a few chapters of the book will be selected and read collectively, providing a space for shared discussion and reflection. The club will include complementary readings of authors cited by Careri, essential to understand what walking is as an aesthetic and political practice.

From the Space, Communication and Participation Guilds of the Mòniques, a small cycle has been prepared around the figure of Francesco Careri and his conception of urban drifting, as an active exploration of the act of walking. This cycle will include a reading club guided by Horacio Espinosa, an open conversation with Francesco Careri and Gabriela Navas, an urban drift from Santa Mònica and a live radio programme looking towards the Ramblas.
