Polisèmies del silenci I

Polysemies of silence proposes to critically explore the constructed oblivion and the different ways in which silence operates to legitimise domination, erect colonial history as a unique discourse or privilege some voices over others when narrating migrations.

This collective proposal by Sabers migrants and Jiser Reflexions Mediterrànies includes a creative proposal and a public programme of activities, which is framed within the exhibition The Possibility of Not Having Been. The self-published publication of the same title, which connects counter-histories and memories of resistance.

This cycle of activities, which begins in October, proposes different formats (talks, radio and workshop), as spaces for listening and dialogue to weave together a collective cartography, from a critical point of view that questions epistemic violence and the mechanisms of colonial power.

    .

A participative workshop will be held on the basis of the collective creation proposal: Polisemias del silencio, within the exhibition The possibility of not having been. 7 decolonial interferences.

A space to critically feel and think about the realities shown in the works of this proposal of collective creation, traversed by colonial silence. The workshop proposes a process of sharing in order to weave together a collaborative cartography, from a critical viewpoint that questions epistemic violence and the mechanisms of colonial power.

Facilitators: Ida Barbati, Xavier de Luca, Boris Mercado and Camila Opazo Sepúlveda.

  • 26.10.23 / 18 h / Agora (Exhibition spaces) / Conversation: Memories of bodies in absence.

A space for dialogue to critically address how silence operates to produce the erasure, the constructed oblivion and the non-existence of bodies subalternised by colonial power. Participants will raise this question from different contexts or realities, such as the context of armed violence in Colombia or the situation experienced by the families of people who have disappeared at sea. An activity to weave memories that vindicate the right of everyone not to be erased and to exist.

With the participation of Jimena Andrade, Daniel Andújar and Fabian Villegas Pozos.

Moderation: Alejandra Rocabado and Ida Barbati.
