Instal·lació itinerant que farà emergir una memòria compartida per part de tots els europeus i europees
General public
The House.Music.Europe - HoME project, which is supported by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme, has a duration of three years and aims to bring together young artists from different disciplines, with music as the main discipline, to jointly create a sound installation and a performance piece based on recordings made by people in the street and various specific collectives, about their memories of European history, or more specifically of their country, city, or even their neighbourhood. The aim of HoME is to bring about the emergence of a shared memory on the part of all Europeans.
The first phase of HoME focuses on the collection of recordings and data. A mobile structure will be installed in various spaces in the city of Barcelona, on 1 April at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona and on 2 April outside the Santa Mònica. People in the street will be able to enter the structure, which will be equipped with microphones and sensors of various types to record not only the words of the people taking part, but also their vital signs. With the data collected, the selected artists will design a creative project to be carried out over the next two years.
Three artists from different disciplines, Julio César Palacio (composer/sound artist), Carlos Nuñez Medina (composer) and Ricardo Castro Arceiz (performer), have come together to plan the functioning of the installation during their stay in Barcelona. They themselves explain how they have approached the project:
"At this time of global uncertainty and instability, in which we are hyper-connected to media whose information responds to various agendas, it is a time when it is essential to listen carefully to people and to those around us, to give up the floor and to communicate; a return to bis a bis contact and to sharing experiences and information is essential.
This contact should be open to total freedom of expression and freedom from prejudice, understanding that realities, cultures, beliefs and idiosyncrasies are diverse.
With this concept as a basis, we wanted to tackle the first stage of the HoME project related to the installation and collection of data (stories) in our city. As a team and having met on several occasions, we have seen that the interests and/or concepts of the questions to be posed to the participating public have been changing; each of us has chosen a personal but complementary approach, which is why we decided not to have a single global angle, but the convergence of the three approaches.
The interest in acting in this way is also relevant from the point of view of facing the next stages of the project with a broader panorama, in which the three of us can see ourselves reflected and thus not only be able to create accordingly, but also to learn and share.
To Carlos' initial interest in making an approach dedicated to different groups and ages, understanding that both the memory and the perception is different in these different stages, Ricardo's interest in giving a voice to the LGTBIQ collective and understanding what their perception of HOGAR is in the sense of gender, acceptance, freedom, security, etc., is added. For his part, Julio is interested in understanding the meaning of HOME from the point of view of belonging and the materiality of the concept itself".
