The possibility of not having been | 12 October 2023 - 31 January 2024 | Screening schedule: 11am - 1pm - 3pm - 5pm - 7pm

Toni Serra has explored through his videos different visions, in a no man's land between experimental essay and poetry, with a constant presence of the notion of transit and the realities of the dream. The progressive realization that criticism has to be a means that helps to illuminate and know new worlds, leads him to reflect and experiment on the relationship of video with the visionary, with the inner experience and visions that transit between worlds, spaces and times, between the real and the unreal, dream and wakefulness, poetry and prophecy ... as a journey that not only crosses but also erases these limits and boundaries.

Toni Serra *) Abu Ali (Manresa, 1960 – Barcelona, 2019).
Through his videos he has explored different visions, in a no man's land between experimental essay and poetry, with a constant presence of the notion of transit and the realities of the dream. In his first works, in Barcelona, New York and Tangier, he questioned himself about beauty, the mystery of the ephemeral and the marginal. In 1994, he began the video series TV Code, a personal immersion in the critique of the mechanisms of alienation and the media, trying to parody their spectacular seduction and deconstruct their hypnotic capacity to create social models and identity stereotypes.

The progressive realization that criticism has to be a means that helps to illuminate and know new worlds, leads him to reflect and experiment on the relationship of video with the visionary, with the inner experience and visions that travel between worlds, spaces and times, between the real and the unreal, dream and wakefulness, poetry and prophecy ... as a journey that not only crosses, but also erases these limits and boundaries.

Co-director of OVNI [observatori de video no identificat]. He won the Nam June Paik Video Award for Istishara Archives and the City of Barcelona Award for the installation Fes Ciutat Interior. He worked on other projects such as Ru'a [visions] or Arxius Babilonia.
