MACHO MAN

An interactive stage proposal. Documentary theatre

Exhibition

Installation | 07.02.2023 - 12.03.2023 | SOLD-OUT

The purpose of the installation is to raise awareness and bring to everyone's attention the situation of male violence in Spain. MACHO MAN is a scenic and experimental journey in the form of an installation where the audience becomes the protagonist of the show, moving through different spaces as if it were a labyrinth. The spectator-participants are provided with a specific system of wireless headphones that will act as a guide, a documentarian or simply help to complete the spatial composition by means of a sound environment. Each of the eleven spaces has an independent and autonomous character, with its own mechanism of interaction, which forces the audience to be always receptive, adding images, sensations, experiences that make up a whole with the aim of making the audience aware of gender violence in the couple, family, work, social and judicial spheres. What is happening? Who are the victims? How difficult is it for them to recognise and accept that they are victims? What mark have human beings left over the centuries through education? What are our own actions or non-actions? What do we do and what don't we do? Why is it that today a woman, just because she is a woman, continues to be a potential victim? How do the powers that be react to these events?

In a tour of approximately 60 minutes, the audience will enter in groups of 6 people who will be separated and reunited in different rooms. Every 8 minutes a new group enters to relive this experience. On this journey the public will read, walk, listen, choose and interact with the spaces and with other participants.
