With Miquel Jordà interviewing Dr. Truna
Open and free activity with a limited capacity of 55 people
Dr. Truna (Andrés Blasco Ramos)
The possibility of multiplying myself, or ‘the gift of ubiquity’, has fascinated me since I was a child. The idea of being able to multiply myself in a live performance allows me to merge sound invention as an ‘electronic luthier’ and interaction with images of myself manipulating these new instruments.
This ‘Trio Truna’ allows me to play with the ‘play-pause-stop’ of two DVD players connected to two video projectors and at the same time to play ‘in-situ’ my electronically modified cello, by another invention called ‘Suitcase-Magic’. Giving me new possibilities of interaction, composition and improvisation with recordings of myself manipulating my two invented instruments:
Toro-Cosmic and ‘Lectern of the Future’.
These new instruments have a timbre all their own, they are the result of a long process of recycling materials and experimenting for more than 30 years, in order to find a sound that identifies me. In fact, they are instruments that are still in process and change even today.

Dr. Truna is the pseudonym of Andrés Blasco Ramos (Valencia, 1965), a musician, composer and builder of new electro-acoustic instruments. He calls himself an ‘auto-lutier’. His training is in photography, film, radio and dubbing sound technician, violin studies at the conservatory and double bass at jazz schools. He also holds a scholarship in sound art at the University of Valencia (UPV) and is a member of the Spanish Electroacoustic Music Association (AMEE).
In 1983 he began his activity as a musician-composer in Valencia with the group Carmina Burana (post-rock) and the duo Fitzcarraldo (experimental rock). Until 1994 he released several albums on record labels in Madrid, Valencia and England.
From 1995 to 1999 he lived in Liege (Belgium), a city where he intensively developed his own sound universe, building sound sculptures with recycled materials and his first sound actions in public spaces.
In 2000 he returned to live in Valencia and focused on his work as a man-orchestra and sound art, creating a hybrid between image and sound, a universe of his own, impregnated with retrofuturism, pataphysics and Dada.
In 2016 he founds Trío Truna (TX3), a group of his own performing live with two video projectors that project two clones that manipulate sound sculptures such as ‘El Toro Cósmico’ or ‘El Atril del Futuro’ and other inventions (Globotarra, Chelo Mutante, Maleta Mágica...). The first performance of (TX3) will be in ARTS BIRTHDAY 2016 deferred live by ARS SONORA (R..N.E.) and ARS ACUSTICA.
Currently Dr. Truna is also working on free improvisation, and film, concerts with other sound artists:
ELECTRIC TÓTEMS (duo with Pierre Bastien) with whom last October 2024 they released their first album C.D. on the label À MARXE. STRANGE STRINGS (duo with Mike Cooper), ABSTRACT VARIATIONS (duo with Mark Cunningham), Tomomi Kubo /Dr. Truna duo, WILD CAT QUARTET (P.Bastien, M. Cooper, M. Cunningham, Dr. Truna).
