Spiritini & Strukelj. El pes el fum
Activity open to all and free of charge with a limited capacity of 55 people
El pes el fum (The weight the smoke) is a work by the duo formed by the musician Riccardo M. Spiritini and the artist Pedro Strukelj Elgarte, where sound and visual presences explore various planes of confrontation and transparency. Engaged in the stubborn mission to exist, these two creators investigate a language rooted in the pleasure of tactile and analogue materials, in a possible dialogue with history. For this session they focus their attention on the smoke that 15 years ago caused the death of 49 babies in the "Guarderia ABC", in the Mexican city of Hermosillo. An event where many layers of corruption and silence remain and we are still waiting for justice.
A calligraphic stroke stimulates the appearance of a family of sounds and a frequency is interpreted with a line, a spot or a type of writing. Suddenly, a world of string sounds and electric percussions obtained with the Tarcordium® (an instrument designed and made by Spiritini) emerges, which join with the inks and graffiti and charcoal, in a flow of images and music driven by intuition and freedom. Bursts and lines, silences and archaic chants.

With the participation of Miquel Jordà interviewing Riccardo Massari and Pedro Strukelj, and i final visual sound action.
Riccardo Massari Spiritini (Verona, Italy, 1966) composer, musician, sound artist and producer. Trained in The Hague at the Sonology Course with Clarence Barlow and Richard Barret and with György Ligeti, Walter Zimmerman and Luis Andriessen. He works mainly in the field of contemporary music. Many of his works, whether for acoustic or electronic instruments, are deeply related to the visual, literary, gestural and poetic arts (video, film, dance, theatre, sound installation). As a performer (piano, electronics and Tarcordium), in the field of free improvisation, he has worked with Butch Morris, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Zeena Parkins, Andrea Centazzo, LaDonna Smith, Roberto Ottaviano, Lisle Ellis, Perry Robinson, Joe Giardullo, Gino Ropa.
Pedro Strukelj Elgarte (Lanús, Argentina, 1974), a cartoonist who develops his graphic work in relation to music in two ways. At the same time as he produces illustrated chronicles of concerts and festivals, he produces an abstract work in calligraphic ink inspired by music. Several pieces from his project Transcripciones have been performed by musicians such as Antonio Mazzei, Javier Galiana, Dodecarmenisme, Julián Solarz, Juanma Trujillo and Juan R. Berbín. Fernanda García Lao writes: "I sense, in his speed in capturing the instant, a particular sense of transience. Pedro draws as if he were writing. Sentences without words, cinematic drawings, as Henri Michaux would say. Writing or walking are ways of establishing a furrow. A trace".
