Aquophone Micronecta. Dream Sonata.

The Aquophone is an innovative electronic sound generator of our own creation, activated by the percussion of water drops. The dripping system recreates the enormous possibilities of the random polyrhythm of nature and allows us to compose in real time a whole range of unique, ephemeral and unrepeatable sound fantasies.

Dream Sonata is a relaxing proposal in which the sound possibilities of the automaton system are explored through its slow musical rain, combined with different musical scales from the East.

The work is conceived as a sound journey and a contemporary oasis for all audiences. It finds its inspiration in sounds of nature and is born with the intention of invoking calm.

It represents a tribute to floating states, to the border between wakefulness and reverie, to the special moment in which each spectator completes with their imagination, the silence between the drops.

Aquophone is a creation of Parto.

Parto are LAR Legido and Patxi Valera.

Patxi Valera.

A Coruña, 1970. A graduate of the Faculty of Social Psychology at the USC, his self-taught artistic training and his eclectic nature have led him to take an interest in the richness of the diverse languages of world percussion music, particularly flamenco and all music from the East.

These and other totemic concerns have led him to promote various collective creation groups whose work has focused on audiovisual experimentation and free improvisation.

In 1991 he helped start the progressive multimedia group KozmicMuffin, in which he actively participated as a drummer, percussionist and scriptwriter for more than ten years. In 1999 he formed the trio Parto, together with guitarist Pablo Rega and drummer LAR Legido, with the aim of furthering the study of form and sound in experimental music.

In 2002, taking the polyrhythm of rain as a model, he began to develop with LAR Legido the prototype of what is currently the Aquophone system of electronic percussion with liquids.

In 2008, he began to work as producer of Aquófono and to coordinate various cycles and festivals of improvised music in Compostela. It is in this field that the Orquesta de Música Espontánea de Galicia, OMEGa, was born; an avant-garde collective formed by more than twenty very diverse musicians, united by sound improvisation in real time, under the guided conduction of Pablo Rega or Fred Frith, among other conductors.

With half of the members of the OMEGa Orchestra, in 2011 a collaboration with their much-missed Germán Coppini was articulated, a special project that revisited the songs of Golpes Bajos from a different point of view. The result of this union was the release of the vinyl Semper Audax, recorded live at the Teatro Jofre in Ferrol.

Since 2000, he has also worked as a drummer and composer and has performed several indoor and street shows with various theatre companies such as Compañía Chévere, La Danaus or Antigua i Barbuda, with international projection.

He continues to play and record free improvisation, solo and in trio, with the double bass player Eduard Altaba and the trumpeter Pablo Volt.

And he loves to continue to be surprised, discovering the places to which the Aquophone leads, twenty years after its creation, suddenly, something appears, a rhythm, an idea, a combination of sounds, scales and drips that make him travel to places where he had never been before.
