Alex Reynolds (Bilbao, 1978)
He graduated in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art museums, galleries and festivals internationally such as Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum (Norway), FID Marseille (France), Koldo Mitxelna and Tabakalera (San Sebastian), Komplot (Belgium), CA2M (Madrid), Las Palmas International Film Festival, MITE (Argentina), DA2 (Salamanca), Musikverket (Sweden) and Caixaforum and Fundación Miró (Barcelona), receiving awards and grants from the ARCOmadrid fair and the Botín Foundation. His artistic practice revolves around the language of film and the relationships established between its different elements (sound, rhythm, out-of-field, conflict, tension). Elements that dialogue with each other but not necessarily following the traditional logic that the spectator expects of them. The spectator is, precisely, the key element in his work, whom he interpellates either through his films, his performances, his texts or his sound pieces so that he explores new ways of relating to the narrative, questioning his preconceived expectations.
