Screening of the piece by Paco Chanivet, with commentary by Jara Aithany.

Halfway between essay film and video-souvenir, La veda is a story about family ties. Using images recorded on a cruise his parents took, Paco Chanivet invokes a dystopian society in which the problems of collective coexistence are solved by an algorithm, and in which the prohibition of abortion is compensated by a law that allows parents to prosecute their children if at the age of 30 they have not fulfilled the expectations placed on them. In La veda, the author's voice-over drifts over his parental figures, stripping them with brutal honesty under the gaze of an existential void in the form of a virus and with the sole testimony of a video camera is treated as if it were a newcomer to the world.

The screening of La veda will be accompanied by the presence of Jara Aithany, who, through video, will tackle themes such as the perversity of family relationships, masculinity, thanatopolitics and identity. To do so, she will relate the video to different literary works, television adverts and Whatsapp audios.

Jara Aithany has a degree in psychology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is the author of La locura como superpoder published in 2019 by Cúpula libros (Planeta), she has coordinated the Fanzine Fango in which different writers talk about their suffering and emotional vulnerability. During the 2019-2020 season she carried out the project @en_el_fango, a public space on social networks aimed at making emotional discomfort visible. She is currently researching and writing about issues related to grief.
