Activities open to everyone and free of charge with limited capacity
Once again this year Santa Mònica joins in the celebration of International Museum Day and Museum Night, which this year coincide on Saturday 18 May. To celebrate this double event we invite you to enjoy the exhibition The other side, also open at night, and a special programme of activities and proposals linked to the exhibition and the experimental lines of the Mòniques, resident artists at the centre.
In addition, this year's International Museum Day is celebrated under the slogan 'Museums for education and research', emphasising the fundamental role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience. At Santa Mònica we are celebrating the day by also taking part in the symposium "El gir social de les arts a l’escola i el paper de la tecnologia digital" where we will share experiences and reflections on the Sojornar project that forms part of the mediation and education programmes that we promote and that materialise the centre's objective of contributing to research as a space that fosters curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.

11am - 7pm: check availability of advance tickets: bit.ly/citaprevia-laltrecostat
19:30h - 24h: open doors with limited capacity on a first-come, first-served basis.
Are you used to remembering what you have dreamt? Do you worry about seeing yourself in the mirror? Have you ever taken substances that alter your perception? Is reality enough for you? Forget for a moment all that this side forces you to do. Forget everything you think you remember and go... into the other side.
The other side is an immersive, walk-through exhibition that explores the unconscious and altered states of consciousness.
– 1518/840 Transitar lo invisible
18h, 19h, 20h, 21h, 22h, 23h, 24h / Auditorium / Minimum stay of 40 minutes *.
Certain mental states have been labelled by the western medical establishment as altered. The world of dreams, transit, evanescent states of consciousness and all that transpires become materials for an action of resistance where a musician and a group of performers experience an ecstatic immersion for seven hours. A challenging experience where the bodies of the performers become channels of a dance to choreograph the invisible and embark on a journey to mutate towards the unexplored and all that transpires on the planes of the intangible.
Long-lasting and endurance performance by Zoe Balasch in collaboration with performers from the Corpografies inclassificables Laboratory and music by Xavi Lloses.
* To maintain the essence of the immersive experience and the atmosphere of intimacy and concentration of the artists, please follow the indications given at the entrance.
21h - 23h / Espai Mòniques and hall
The Mòniques are the 20 artists resident at the Santa Mònica who between September and July are working in seven groups or guilds to explore through art questions about the centre and its contents.
Through a collective programme displayed in different spaces of the centre, tonight we invite you to dive, together with them, into some of the questions they have been working on.
