Collective video action on recycling and against extractivism

Important: The activity will be audio-visually recorded in order to form part of the installation project of the Colectivo TRES / exhibition cycle in Santa Mònica. The acceptance of the treatment of personal data (image and voice of the recording), in the terms indicated in the form, is a necessary condition to participate in the activity.
Dismantling keyboards (and colonialism)! is a collective, vindicative and artistic action about recycling, and critical of extractivism. It is a proposal of the cycle ECOSS, ecosistemes de l'inesperat, by Kòniclab, in collaboration with the Mexican Colectivo TRES and Medialabmx.
During the action, which will be recorded on video, texts critical of colonialism will be read and 300 disused keyboards* will be dismantled. The aim is to extract the most valuable electronic components, which will be the raw material with which the Colectivo TRES and Medialabmx will create its installation No quiero oro ni quiero plata, lo que quiero es el quinto irreal. The installation reflects on the colonial appropriation of America by the global north and will form part of the next exhibition cycle at the Santa Mònica, which will be on show from October.
At the same time, the dismantling of this technological waste is intended as a warning about programmed obsolescence and technological consumerism, and aims to highlight (and, at the same time, question) aspects such as recycling and reuse.
Those interested in collaborating in this performance must register in advance.
And if you have a keyboard at home that you can no longer use, bring it and we will dismantle it for artistic recycling!
*These keyboards have been donated by Solidança. At the end of the exhibition, the keyboards will be recovered so that they can continue their conventional recycling cycle.

TRES (Ilana Boltvinik and Rodrigo Viñas, Mexico City) is an artistic research collective, focused on exploring the implications of public space and rubbish.
Medialabmx (Leonardo Aranda, Mexico City) is a civil association and autonomous space dedicated to researching the links between art, technology and politics.
