Carn Viva

This exercise is based on the idea of creating strategies of resistance to the way bodies behave or manifest themselves in the Las Ramblas area. I propose this approach by thinking of people communicating with other people through non-normative forms of dialogue, always within the context of this street. In this sense, the practice establishes collective codes that are determined beforehand. These codes are ways of generating movement or gestures that do not rely on abstract forms, but are designed to go unnoticed in their individual form, yet manifest when the gesture occurs in multiple bodies occupying public space.

The proposal works on two axes: the form of bodies in space and the levels of attention it provokes, both in people who participate in the practice and those who are in Las Ramblas. The power of the gesture remains when levels of attention move from individual to collective, and from there to the street.

The idea is to have a previous encounter to facilitate tools and connect with the body and the group, propose and agree on a series of gestures or forms with which we can play, and then go out into the street!

Carne Viva is a stable work group on body, discomfort and political imagination for the creation of somatic and emotional care tools. Once a month, we open Carne Viva to all those people who want to connect with matter, flesh, and breath.
