Poetic ARCA

The ARCA installation is a large paper house suspended in the air by means of an internal structure and the force of the magnets. A poetic text by Antoni Clapés is projected onto its walls. In both material and spiritual nature, the ark has traditionally symbolised that power that makes nothing be lost and everything be reborn.

On the day of the performance, the installation ARCA becomes a performative device, and that way is modified: the text is emptied of words by the active participation of the assistants of the action

In this emptying, which is physical, the text is rewritten over and over again, giving itself to the participants, freeing itself from the walls that contain it and make it visible. As the words disappear, new poems appear, that end up disappearing to make way for new ones... The word – light, trapped on the paper, is erased from its physical support to be lost in space (projected of the walls, furniture and assistants in the room) and in time. During the performance, some poets that participated also will read poems by Joan Brossa.

Given the length of time the action endures, there are always various people distributed at the same time freely among the four walls of the arc, which make it impossible to perceive the completed form of the artwork. This, added to the continuous recital, makes the performance a complex action, ultimately more sensorial than conceptual, of synchronic evolution and not diachronic, where the stimuli (words) work independently in its visual and aural perceptions.
