European Film Premiere: Naboba, ancestral vision of the Arhuaco people

The projection merges two initiatives: First, it is part of the official selection of the IV Colombian Film Festival organized by the association El Perro que Ladra-Barcelona to promote the Latin American Cinema in Barcelona. Second, it is connected to the current social research project led by InCom-UAB (Institut de la Comunicació de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona): Getting closer to socio-cultural realities. Struggles and resistances of indigenous communities in Latin America, supported by FAS-Fundació Autònoma Solidària (UAB Campus).
European premiere of the indigenous film "NABOBA, ancestral vision of the Arhuaco people" (2015). The film directed by Amado Villafaña is part of the official selection of the IV Colombian Film Festival in Barcelona. After the film screening there will be a Q&A debate on the storytelling of the water in the indigenous territories with the participation of Juan Manual Viatela, del Observatorio ADP I (por la autonomía y los derechos de los pueblos indígenas en Colombia) and Maria Luna of the association El Perro que Ladra Barcelona. In Naboba, authorities and indigenous communities of the Arhuaco indigenous group reveal us their ancestral thought about the water as a living being. The film is an extraordinary expedition from Cienaga Grande to the snow peaks of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Water is under threat and urgent actions such as traditional rites are needed to protect it and to guarantee its preservation.
“Naboba, ancestral vision of the Arhuaco People” is a team work directed by Amado Villafaña Chaparro with the production of Camilo Mosquera and Pablo Mora and music by the indigenous leader Camilo Izquierdo . The cameramen were Roberto Mojica and Damer Romero. The film is a production of Yosokwi- Comunicaciones Zhigoneshi, Organización Gonawindua Tayrona and Confederación Indígena Tayrona. The film was screeened at 17 MIDBO: International Documentary Film Festival in Bogotá in October 2015.
