Our ownership does not lie in the technological development itself, but in the unconventional use of the possibilities that technologies allow, impose and offer us.
We are interested in what is relational, in the hybrid between analogue and digital worlds, between power structures and self-management. We try to recognise, explore and enjoy the contradictions to which we are led to speak in digital universes. We explore, from trial and error.
We are also interested in questions that help us to rethink or reposition our gaze. Faced with uncertain scenarios on social networks we ask ourselves questions from formal and informal places: Where does all the time spent on networks go? Who forces us to exist on networks? What are the alternatives? What operates in these acts of sharing? Where will we go when we leave Instagram? Will we go together and at the same time or little by little? Why stay? Will cultural institutions march with us? Is there resistance beyond an extractivist and capitalist internet? Is Mark Zuckerberg reptilian?
And all this interests us from the participatory and performative point of view, not only from the spoken discourse or the written word, but from the experiences and activations through the centre, the neighbourhood and the bodies.
We try to work with open and experimental processes that accept the instability of the present. We play with the doubts and concerns of those who surround us in order to find the research questions that challenge us. We like to make activations both from celebration and recognition as well as from error and indignation.
We want to test different ways of relating, connecting and interacting with the Santa Mònica and its audiences.
