This programme focuses on the contemporary possibilities of sound. Ideal sound both in the innumerable contemporary and extensive technical possibilities of the instrument and in the semantic, historical and physical relations of music with silence, silences, noise and the physicality of gesture. It all turns out to be a journey, a labyrinthine path that unfolds between works now consolidated in the most current repertoire for saxophone quartet, the more didactic and compositional side, and original pieces dedicated to the SSQ and written for this special event.

The SSQ was founded in 2020 with the aim of enriching and disseminating the contemporary and experimental repertoire of this ensemble, from historical modernity to the most recent works, also with electronics. The Quartet has performed at important festivals such as Nuova Constanza, Angelica in Bologna, Amici della Musica di Modena, Area Sismica. They have collaborated with different composers, among which Sciarrino and C. E. Cella. In 2022 they recorded their first album, including the first recording of music by Antonioni, Bussotti, Ceccarelli, Doati, Scodanibbio and Solbiati.
