Després del vendaval

From the plant, the party is a circle of celebration, a vindication of our bodies that live and die.

Merche Blasco will carry out the performance ‘La escucha, la ofrenda’ in which she will explore the materiality and symbolism that make up the different elements of the DU-DA installation through a collective, profound and celebratory listening.

We will close with an opening of the research and a tasting of the two Morir Guay brews.

Merche Blasco is a multimedia artist and composer based in Berlin and Barcelona. Merche designs and constructs imprecise technological assemblages that allow for embodied forms of composition and performance and new modes of listening. Through the creation of these pieces, Merche attempts to establish a more horizontal hierarchy with other entities, moving away from parameters such as control, precision and power. Instead, Merche seeks to generate collaborative spaces where the instruments she builds have agency of their own, and where working with her body and exploring organic materials are central elements. Merche's work is also developed in the framework of participatory sound performances in public spaces, creating synergies within the audience itself and between the audience and the environment through collective music making and listening.

Merche has presented her work internationally at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Shed, CTM Festival, MaerzMusik, Sónar Festival, La Biennale di Venezia, NIME conferences, Tsonami International Sound Art Festival in Chile, Mapping Festival, Queens Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago de Chile, among others.

Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, El País Semanal, and The Wire magazine. Merche was a DAAD Sound&Music fellow in 2022-2023 and holds a PhD in Music Composition from New York University with the thesis ‘IN Power/OUT of control - Listening to the margins’.
