Concert by Isabel Do Diego
General public
Free entry, limited capacity
In "Retablo para un concierto monstruoso", Isabel Do Diego permeates flamenco quejío with the vocal "physicality" of different liturgies, such as the sacred chant of medieval Europe, the call to prayer in Mesopotamia or the recitation of the Japanese Bunraku. A voice embodied by different vermin in the manner of a folkloric bestiary. All this vocal and organic body is again supported by electronic bases composed, this time, as sound trompe l'oeil. A musical symbolism inhabited by a dragged, torn, beaten and broken electronics. A triad of voice, body and instrumentation that leads to the celebration of the monstrous as a divinised entity.
Spatially, Isabel Do Diego inhabits her own stage on which to ritualise this musical journey. A habitat for the monstrous singing of sacralised electronics. A space for the bastard dance of supernatural movements. The medium body that inhabits everything. In short, a scene transmuted into an altar where folk thaumaturgy in the form of a concert can be lit.
