Paredes Pepinas

Santiago Cirugeda + Alice Attout + Yaiza Ares

Obra

15 September 2022 - 08 January 2023

Under the pretext of the construction of the exhibition space, the proposal proposes a participatory intervention from start to finish, divided into three phases.

The stage of construction and theatricalisation of the installation: reusing the walls of the centre itself, both the exhibition space and the installation in office format are created, accompanied by activities ranging from live art to open talks with different guests.

The pepina office: which is maintained throughout the duration of the exhibition, in which requests from people or groups with needs linked to the field of housing will be dealt with openly. At the same time, these requests will be exhibited in the public attention area.

Dismantling: this last phase consists of the redistribution of the material according to the proposals attended to throughout the exhibition and the monitoring of their evolution.

Santiago Cirugeda (Seville, 1971) created the architecture office Recetas Urbanas in 2003 after 7 years of solo work addressing issues such as ephemeral architecture, the reuse of materials, occupation strategies and urban intervention, the incorporation of built prostheses, education or the participation of citizens in the decision-making process.

Alice Attout (Belgium, 1984) joined the team in 2008 and together they continued to search for new protocols for public projects, negotiating between legality and illegality and reminding us of the excess of control that public institutions try to impose on us. The work of the Recetas Urbanas team is characterised by its continuous experimentation using the city as a laboratory and a space for conflict resolution.
