Young Gallery Weekend
Exhibition
Young Gallery Weekend is a contemporary art event in which galleries, creative spaces, artists and emerging and independent cultural projects are the players. A vanguard generator, YGW gives visibility to the contemporary cultural scene featuring the most innovative proposals. In its 5 Anniversary YGW will be the disruptor festival, a place for restless minds, a multidisciplinary celebration of contemporary art, a cultural event that serves as a stimulus to independent and emerging art galleries and the dissemination of culture in all its forms and most importantly, YGW is a direct encounter with the audience, general public, professionals and collectors. One more year of wholehearted commitment to contemporary creation, the artists of our time, creative spaces and the audiences of today and tomorrow. That's why we have to celebrate with a very special edition. As the evolution of the established program of the festival continues, we’re adding new sections that will give visibility to innovative and necessary disciplines. The official sections of Young Gallery Weekend 2019 are: Art Galleries Tours, Gallerists Meet Collectors, Young Performance Art, Young Art Sound, Young Electronic Art.
(Al)most, Life, after all; the exhibition hosted by Arts Santa Mònica is part of YEA (Young Electronic Art) and YAS (Young Art Sound). Focusing on new trends in culture and technology, Young Gallery Weekend is the festival chosen for the presentation of the NewArtFoundation and Hangar production program with the collaboration of the Beep Collection of Electronic Art, the result of which is the work of Kenneth Dow, Patricio Rivera and TopLab, pieces that will be exhibited in the company of an exquisite selection of installations, works of digital art, sound and electronics by fourteen outstanding artists.
(Al)most life, after all.
After all.
Life is Art through its mechanisms, data networks, computing, robotics, science, virtual and real networks, a present, basic cyborization, through small neurostimulators, pacemakers that condition the heartbeat, passion at the stroke of "like". Your future is no longer available, it is past.
Works with essences of life, not only in their creation, but also in the representation of language, community, nature, human reactions, memories, post-humanism...the encounter of diverse fields of knowledge from technology, from the teahne, that art reveals; In his reflection in search of the essence of technology, Heidegger redefined it as something that goes beyond the merely instrumental, and that can only be revealed through art, in the essence of life, present, the source of life, El Dorado...in the essence of life, present, the source of life, El Dorado...the encounter of diverse fields of knowledge from technology, from the teahne, that art reveals; In his reflection in search of the essence of technology, Heidegger redefined it as something that goes beyond the merely instrumental, and that can only be revealed through art, in the essence of life, present, the source of life, El Dorado...the source of life can be revealed through art.
YGW in collaboration with the NewArtFoundation, Hangar and the Beep Collection of Electronic Art generate a proposal in which anthropocentrism is not only questioned, it is vetoed through radical electromagnetic impulses, robotic communities, alien jellyfish, virtual landscapes closer than the real ones; are we really necessary?
