“I often have the impression that, to work in art, much more than having something to say about things, the question is about being good at taking measurements, measuring everything about our work. Too much symbol? Too much work? On what scale should our idea be manifested? Would I do this if they hadn’t given me the Botín prize? What will my mother think of what I do? Can place my hopes in this gallery? Would a gallery be good for me? Do I take too many risks with my public statements? The sea or the mountains? Beggar or emperor? Insider or outsider?”
