In 2010, the Jeu de Paume presented “Faux Amis,” the first “Ephemeral video library”, dedicated to representing history and contemporary art through questions of memory, identity and loss. The second edition, entitled "Inventing the possible," turns "towards afterwards" to consider the invention of a possible future or a utopian future.
The selected videos use a more or less humorous or tragic perspective to examine our perplexity in the face of the challenges of the utopias of modernity, and the attempts at reassessment that took place in the twentieth century.
This second edition of the Jeu de Paume ephemeral video library will take place in the Balcony Area at Arts Santa Mònica, as part of LOOP, and it invites us to consider whether any models for replacing the utopias of modernity are possible. It conceived as a mixed and open mechanism, and the viewers may freely watch the selected videos either individually or collectively.
