Zbabek: Zbabek: an experimental journey through sound and pictorial improvisation

ZBABEK is a project by Irene Valiente and Enric Ponsa that connects sound art and visual art based on improvisation and performance: a dialogue is established between the two artists based on the actions and reactions of both, responding to the stimuli that are created.

The interesting thing about ZBABEK lies in the variability of the final result and in the process of making it, as this (totally improvised) takes on a crucial and experiential meaning for both the artists and the audience, resulting in a unique and unrepeatable experience that you never know how it ends.

Enric Ponsa has played drums and guitar for decades in many different groups. He is currently a drummer in different groups and is an active part of the Free Jazz and Improvització Libre scene in Barcelona. He plays drums in Arrrgo, El tercer semestre and Ovvo among other projects.

Irene Valiente combines her plastic work and tattooing with teaching. She has participated in several projects and exhibitions in the visual field and has been an active part of the Barcelona art scene for more than 15 years. Her work connects the organic with different elements that surround us.

Wednesdays of sound and body is the Santa Mònica's programme dedicated to experimental proposals that explore the intersections between music and the human body with free and regular sessions every Wednesday at 7pm in the Sala Bar.

Sound and Body Wednesdays is a meeting place for audiences, creators, programmers, dilettantes and curious people eager to enjoy a programme of sound experimentation, improvised music, voice, dance and small-format performance in a relaxed and close environment such as the Sala Bar.
