Africa Moment presents a performance intervention inspired by the work Resonance of shadows by artists Yemi Osokoya, Ambrose Tjark & Jere Ikongio: Resonance of shadows is an experimental and interdisciplinary dance project that investigates the global impact of exploitation and consumerism, especially as it relates to Africa's cultural and economic landscape. By fusing various art forms, the project delves into how Africa's rich cultural heritage contrasts with the exploitation it has faced and continues to endure under neo-colonialism.
The performance fuses elements of African street movement, contemporary choreography, multimedia projections, laser lighting, immersive soundscapes and avant-garde fashion, forming a multifaceted narrative that is both thoughtful and provocative. This convergence of art forms provides a visceral, educational and captivating experience, aiming to challenge perceptions, spark conversations and invite audiences to confront uncomfortable truths.
