LaKT Ensemble presents Plom(a), a choreo-musical piece that seeks relationships between weight and silence.
The inspiration for Plom(a) comes from the experience of being in front of Richard Serra's Equal-Parallel: Guernica-Bengasi at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid.
"The sculptor uses the idea of weight and space in this work, but in the experience of being in front of it, I also had the perception of silence. Weight and space are relevant parameters in dance, while silence is relevant in music. Through our work we want to investigate relations between silence in music and weight in dance.
The other idea mentioned in Serra's work is space. In space we can place and draw shapes that can be geometric or organic. These forms can be explained or shown by the movement and the arrangement of the performers on stage, and can be transferred to the musical form and the structure of the piece itself. By applying the spatial structures of movement to the musical form, we can draw a line between a bodily parameter (weight) and a musical element (silence).
This piece does not claim to be based on Sierra's work, but it has been mentioned to explain the seed of the intuition described above".
