We will approach the processes, methodologies and principles of Cinema en curs with filmmaker Jaime Puertas and teacher Mili Esono, who will present Hi ha un barri, a film made in the Cinema en curs workshops at the Institut de Bellvitge. We will also talk about the project as a space for experimentation and reflection shared by teachers and filmmakers, about the generation of links with authors far from mainstream, about collective creation, about cinema as a way of relating to and engaging with the environment.

Cinema en curs is a structural and experimental programme of film creation in schools and institutes. Initiated in 2005 in Catalonia, in 2024-2025 it reaches its twentieth edition having involved more than 15,000 children and young people from very diverse territories and contexts. Two of its main objectives are to encourage children and young people to discover film as art, creation and culture, and to develop the pedagogical potential of filmmaking in the educational context.

Mili Esono - teacher

Graduate in Fine Arts, specialising in engraving and printmaking. She has been teaching Visual and Plastic Arts at ESO and Bachillerato Artístico since 2009 at Institut Bellvitge, and has participated in the Cinema en Curs project since 2016.

Valeria Erazo and Mili Mena - students

They are currently studying the artistic baccalaureate at Institut Bellvitge and are part of the group of authors who made the film Hi ha un barri in the 2023-24 academic year.

Jaime Puertas Castillo - filmmaker

He trained as a film director at Escac and Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. His films have been screened at festivals such as Rotterdam, Thessaloniki, Malaga and D'A. Historia de pastores, his first feature film, opens in cinemas on 25 October. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Cinema en curs team of filmmakers.
