After the screening of Memoria de la tierra ("Memory of the Land"), by Palestinian artist Samira Badran, we will talk with her about her work, mainly focused on her perceptions of the Palestinian context under Israeli occupation. We will explore the concepts of collective memory, confinement, immobility, impediments and fragmentation of territory and the body.

Samira Badran: Palestinian visual artist. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo, and then continued her studies in painting and printmaking at the Accademia Delle Belle Arti in Florence. Samira's work focuses primarily on her perceptions of the Palestinian conflict under Israeli colonial occupation. She explores concepts of collective memory, confinement, immobility, impediments and fragmentation of territory and the body. She has exhibited her artworks in solo exhibitions, group shows and international festivals, in the Arab world, Europe and the United States.
