TRANS* JOY
Activity open to all and free of charge with a limited capacity of 55 people
Screening of Escenario doble by Virginia Villaplana, with the intervention of Orne Cabrita.
Screening of Escenario doble by Virginia Villaplana, a documentary essay that tackles questions about masculinity by contrasting two experiences: an interview with Marco, a transsexual man who narrates his transition; and the dragking action of the French performer Myriam Marzouk. The naturalness and luminous simplicity of the interview with Marco contrasts with the nocturnal theatricality of the latter to offer us two ways of confronting the construction of gender. Virginia Villaplana is an artist, writer and cultural producer, also a lecturer in Communication at the University of Murcia. Her area of research focuses on the notions of identity, gender, participation, memory and community using creative methodologies such as Do it yourself (DIY) to Do it together (DIT).
The video will be accompanied by the intervention of Orne Cabrita, who will address questions about the current trans legislation, what it means for transgender bodies, for those who decide to become hormonal and not, about the terf motion that in recent years has been strengthened in some sectors of feminism and about how collectively there are ways to support those who encounter barriers to access to medical care.
