FLUX SUMMA: Pierre Bastien
Open and free activity with a limited capacity of 55 people
Screening + colloquium with Pierre Bastien
Pierre Bastien (Paris, 1953) is a musician, composer and builder of experimental musical instruments.
In 1976 he built his first musical machinery. For the next ten years he played in various ensembles and composed for dance companies, while developing his mechanical orchestra: an ensemble of musical automatons made of Meccano parts and electromotors, playing acoustic instruments from all over the world, everyday objects and now the Meccano parts themselves.
With this "Mecanium" he records his albums, performs and makes sound art exhibitions. He has collaborated with leading artists such as Pierrick Sorin, Pascal Comelade, Robert Wyatt, Issey Miyake and Roberto Oliván, among others.
His music is released on several labels: Gazul, G33G, InPolysons, Signature, Western Vinyl, Morphine Records, Discrepant, Marionette and Rephlex.
Pierre Bastien also holds a PhD in 18th century French literature from the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
In this session we will watch a video with a selection of his performances between 1999 and 2017.
