Screening of Is Barcelona different? by Kikol Grau, with an intervention by Alvie.

Is Barcelona different? is a documentary that portrays the other side of alternative music in Barcelona in the early 2000s. The witticisms of each performer in front of the camera are integrated as a manifesto of a movement that, despite the structural precariousness, is moving forward.

The screening of Is Barcelona different? will be accompanied by the presence of Alvie, who will take a look at the city's current music scene from a markedly queer perspective through his comments on the video. During the session, he will highlight and present some of the projects that occupy a scene of spaces and precariousness with some similarities and differences with respect to the one portrayed in Kikol Grau's documentary.

Kikol Grau is a video artist from Barcelona with a degree in History. He began his professional career at Barcelona Television (BTV), where he edited and produced cultural programmes such as Por la kara TV (Clot TV, with Jorge Rodríguez, Pol Turrents and J.A. Bayona), Gabinete de crisis (scriptwriter and director with Félix Pérez-Hita and Arturo Bastón) and eight programmes for Metrópolis (TVE). Since then he has combined his work in television with his own personal work, marked by appropriationist techniques and questions of political memory. His interest in music has led him to make numerous independent music videos and documentaries.

Alvie may sound familiar to you from many things: she is a radio and television presenter, a member of the Futuroa collective, a singer and a performer. Every month you can listen to his programme Queer Up Your Life on Radio Primavera or his collaborations in the podcast Tardeo by Andrea Gumes. You can also find him weekly on Betevé television, in the pop music programme Habitació 910, hosted by Jordi Chicletol. In 2021 he presented his EP (Non quero morrer).
