A piece by Miquel Martí Freixas, in conversation with J. L. Marzo
Songwar(e) is a collection of songs that evoke revolutions and resistance. An international and historical wandering of songs that appeal to tear down walls in the face of dark clouds, that call for the invincible unity of the people or imagine worlds in peace. A strange and sarcastic virtual Alan Lomax, a fusion of objets trouvés, reassemblages and arrangements born in the ocean of the internet, a giddy mirror of reality.
Its author, Miquel Martí Freixas (Barcelona, 1978) is a film programmer, teacher and critic (Blogs&Docs) specialising in non-fiction and contemporary cinema. Among his research, he studies artistic works born out of the internet and, from time to time, he crosses the border between theory and practice and creates a film, as happened previously with the archive medium-length film Sedated army crazy mirror (2014). During the presentation session of Songwar(e), Freixas will talk with Jorge Luis Marzo about points in common in his work and studies.
