Dijous de veu i paraula

Oral exhibition of the process of writing and critical reflection that proposes a personal point of view on dance and transvestism. This manifesto aims to share the research with the community and generate a framework for thinking about the body through the experimental and performative nature of language. We will activate performative strategies to share the text, from publication to performance. We will work on translating the manifesto into the realm of the voice, from the poetic abstraction of dance to the political specificity of the transvestite body.

By Sara Manubens

In collaboration with Bruna Kury

Sara Manubens (1989). Artist, choreographer and transvestite in Barcelona. Master in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture (Museo Reina Sofía, ARTEA group). Her work moves between site-specific, performance and dance, and focuses on trans-corporality and its impact on reality. She takes a critical and experimental approach to transvestite practice and identity. She has been developing her own research projects since 2015. She designs and executes educational projects such as DRAG KIDS (2020) or TEEN HORROR (2023). She works as a performer with Cuqui Jerez, Aimar Pérez Galí and Idoia Zabaleta. She writes reviews on dance and performance for the Mercat de les Flors blog.

Bruna Kury (1987) is Brazilian, anarcatransfeminist, performer, visual and sound artist. She focuses on creations intertwined by gender, class and race (against the prevalent heteronormative compulsory patriarchal cis-theme and structural-class oppressions). She has performed with Coletiva Vomito, Coletivo Coyote, La Plataformance, MEXA and Coletivo T. She is currently researching post-pornography sounds and the creation of objects that are offshoots of performance work.
