Beatrice von Bismarck - El curatorial

Beatrice von Bismarck visits us at Santa Mònica to talk about what “the curatorial” means. The curatorial is about a field of action related to the processes through which art and culture become public. Despite the growing importance that curatorial activity has gained in recent decades, the formulation of a definition that designates its structural characteristics and justifies its significant social relevance remains pending. Starting from four terms—"curatoriality," "constellation," "transposition," and "hospitality"— Beatrice von Bismarck describes the curatorial as a context in which practice and meaning-making take place according to specific conditions, rules, and procedures. Moving away from some controversial notions, such as those of curator, curating, and exhibition, this book focuses on the relationships that the curatorial establishes, relationships which, in turn, constitute it.
