Carne Viva: Underlying somatic

Activity
Workshop | 26.01.2023 / 11h - 13h | Sala d'actes

Open and free activity with limited capacity, without prior registration

Carn Viva

Mar Medina will propose movement and breathing exercises to connect thought and body.

In this session of Carne Viva we will explore with Mar Medina what lies beneath. Based on some ideas from the text "Spinoza" by Gilles Deleuze, we propose a somatic exploration that blurs the boundaries between thought, body, consciousness and illusion.

In this activity we are going to move but no previous preparation is necessary; we recommend bringing comfortable clothes and a yoga mat

Mar Medina (Barcelona, 1976). While graduating in Art History from the University of Barcelona, she trained as a dancer in different European cities, at Movement Research in New York and with Anne Bogart's SITI Company. Her wider curiosity for the experience of the body in movement led her to study Alexander Technique and to take an interest in other somatic subjects in the creative field.

After working for some time as a dancer in dance companies, she began to pay more attention to processes than to events and is now involved in teaching and collaborating in independent projects. Her work is nourished by both activities, going to the encounter of hybrid situations between the transmission of knowledge and the scenic, and adopts different formats wanting to be a meeting point.

One Thursday a month at 11am, in the exhibition spaces of Santa Mònica, we open Carne Viva for all those who want to connect with matter, flesh and breath.

Carne Viva is born as an initiative of the Participation Guild, as part of the actions of a device / space / zone of collective learning to take care of our mental health and meet with our senses.
