Social Film Fest Barcelona

Laboratory that investigates the transformation of matter, as a social and collaborative practice, with the aim of promoting free access to artistic materialities through sustainable and environmentally friendly means.

We will experiment with heritage processes and techniques transforming living and inert materials into new raw material for infinite uses.

The tendency towards the consumption of industrially processed materials conditions a distancing on the part of the citizen and also of the art student from that close link that existed with the material, its natural obtaining, its processing, its technical application and consequently from the empirical knowledge of its principles and possibilities. Many artists of the 20th and 21st century, innovators in so many aspects, have been losing without almost realising the extraordinary potential of the knowledge of the material from tradition and craft, underestimating the craftsmanship and popular knowledge that are preserved in the memory of the people and that are part of their roots.

SOCIAL FEST BCN is a meeting with different actors from the environmental, audiovisual, artistic and creative fields to discuss and propose solutions to the social and environmental problems of our cities, with the aim of achieving collective responses towards a more sustainable development.
