Living flesh is a space to connect with matter, flesh, breath, bodies. From, for and with the senses. Not just yoga classes. Not just dance. Not just deep listening sessions. Not just guided meditations. A somatic laboratory. A caretaker of fascia. A decentraliser of logocentrism.
Carne viva was born as an initiative of the education and mediation guild of the Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica, as part of the actions of a device/space/zone of collective learning to take care of ourselves.
Body-Problem
In contrast to the corporeal celebration of classical academic dance, in this workshop we will treat the body as a problem. The problematisation of the body will be articulated beyond the aesthetic-scenic-musical framework of dance. We believe that there is a historical bodily context and that the way we move is not innocent, but is determined by pre-existing conditioning external to ourselves.
We will oscillate between several poles. On the one hand, the dream of flying; on the other, the force of gravity. On the one hand, the ideal of the free body; on the other, the training of the body that underlies this ideal. On one side, the desire to get out of oneself; on the other, the fear of losing oneself and hurting oneself. On one side, fullness; on the other, danger and the risk of falling.
