Cycle: Three interpretations of the ways of presentation

A poster, a catalogue and a booklet; some video documents, a lot of photographs... working documentation, a compilation/press dossier, some (research) contributions a posteriori... is all that remains of observation and documentation as a method, of making explicit the forms of power, of showing the play of the media, of showing the metamorphosis of the city and its buildings... To point out censorship and disappearance?

Antoni Mercader Capellà

Born in Banyoles in 1941. With a degree in Philosophy and Art History (UB, 1976) and a PhD in Audiovisual Communication (UPF, 2000), he has devoted his professional life to the forms of audiovisual and multimedia expansion in contemporary art, as a historian, exhibition curator, director, consultant and project coordinator, and also as an audiovisual and multimedia producer. Active in the avant-garde plastic arts, he was a member of the group Machines (1964-1966) and the Working Group (1972-1976); his works are in the collections of MACBA, MNAC and MNCARS.

He has been consultant and coordinator of the Mediateca Caixaforum in Barcelona (1994-2006); member of the research group Laboratorio Medios Audiovisuales LMI / UB, coordinator of the European research project GAMA (2007-2009) and director of the European project Vivid [Radical] Memory (2006-2007). Lecturer in Audiovisual Communication Studies at the University of Barcelona (2003-2011).

He is co-author of the first book on video art published in Spain, En torno al vídeo (Barcelona: Gustavo Gili, 1980/Bilbao: Universidad País Vasco, 2010).
