VII Philosophical Seminars

Arts Santa Mònica, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona and the Institut Francès de Barcelona are pleased to invite you to the 2016 Philosophical Seminars, dedicated to the theme “The Value of Drugs: Substances of Contemporary Society”. The seminars will take place at the three centres respectively, on September 19 to 21, 2016.

Coordinators: Xavier Bassas Vila and Felip Martí-Jufresa

The VII Philosophical Seminars tackle a subject that, considered objectively and without bias, affects almost everyone to a greater or lesser degree: drugs. The aim of these seminars is, therefore, to contribute to the deconstruction of the very basis of the concept of drugs, that is, the dominant categorical distinctions that have structured the debate: legal/illegal, natural/chemical, hard/soft, therapeutic/recreational, inspiring/self-destructive.
