Graffitti exhibition and conference
Free entrance
Artescape Street Festival is an anual encounter of youth urban arts, offering in Can Batlló Cultural Site (Sants-Montjuïc District), free workshops on circus, percussion, break-dance, hip hop, skate and graffiti. This year we will focus on Graffiti women.
Women and Graffiti will be a space of encounter and discovery of the city of Barcelona and the urban arts hand painted by artists anonymous, which are invisible, unknown, undervalued, We will get to know their solidarity projects (Graffiti for peace), others more daring (Turkesa) and other under strong compromise (Evelyne Negahamburguer) and we will be surprised by their talent and their courage. Artescape Street Arts Festival claims that graffiti should be part of the art linked to the street, the neighborhoods, people in the city ... As a living art, ephemeral and stigmatized, graffiti has not been considered as part of official art, nor has enough recognition as an educational tool. Artescape Festival offers a bunch of activities aiming to attract attention and enhance the most popular and youth street art. Over 10 years it is part of the cultural landscape ofBarcelona.
The Conference will be held by, and among others renowned graffiti women writers, Turkesa, Malicia, Anna Azuaga and Cristina del Valle, although she is not a graffiti writer but a woman rights activist, she will present the project she leaded in 2010 inPalestinecalled Graffiti for Peace.
