"Ultraorbism" is an interactive action that takes place in two networked connected cities - Barcelona and Falmouth. The action happens in two open spaces with a backdrop of a large screen in the middle - the central area for the story, where the consequences of the various interactive processes are shown. One subsidiary screen show the details of these interactions, explaining how the interaction between these two spaces takes place.
“I'm in the middle of the country, there are no people, no houses, no roads, I look at the moonless sky. The night is clear, clean and cold, it's been a windy day and the universe is now transparent. Thousands of stars draw imaginary lines that form whimsical figures in space. As I think about the millions of light years between my heartbeat and those stars, I am filled with a sense of an abyss. I am nothing. Only emotion and fantasy can give meaning to this abyss.”
Marcel·lí Antúnez
“Ultraorbism” is a linear interpretation of the first of the two books of True Histories by Lucian of Samosata (a Syrian writer who lived in the first century AD) - an impossible journey on which everything is invented, with references to the mythology and literature of the era. The action is narrated by superimposing several layers of images, some of which are produced dynamically during the performance and others come from the image bank; the music and lighting, which are also interactive, are added to the images and make up the story.
A project directed by Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca, as part of the European project SPECIFI and the research area RICHES, with the support of the Catalan Directorate General for Creation and Cultural Industries and the I2CAT Foundation, and live particpation by actors and the audience at the University of Falmouth, Cornwall (Great Britain).
