The Mamzelles. Catalan Riot Grrrls who add humour and downplay the power struggles between men and women, just like the hard-core feminists and nineties punk artists did. They are impudent, eccentric personalities who combine music and theatre as an artistic project. Originally performing in Sona 9, they are a bold, sincere, seductive, original trio who generate an explosion of creativity that leaves no spectator untouched wherever they perform. They are provocative, regardless of whether they are rehashing the overused slogan “Envàs on vas?”, making contemporary dramatic art or singing generational pop songs.
Senior i El Cor Brutal. From the region of Valencia, Senior i el Cor Brutal grapple with the recession, power and consumer society. Every song comes loaded with dynamite about to explode as a direct, electric and uncomfortable response. The mindset of Miquel Àngel Landete ‘Senior’, the bearded, visible frontman, is that of a musician who believes that that guitar is the best weapon to fight fascism. His spirit of social criticism, with a lyrical yet ironic discourse, moulds itself just as well to American sixties rock and nineties tunes.
