Las más macabras de las vidas (The Most Macabre of Lives). Kikol Grau | Spain | 2014 | 50 min.
On the polluted left bank of the Nervión River in Bilbao in the early eighties, in a Basque Country that is riled by unemployment and terrorism, Eskorbuto launched its first musical kicks and spits. Here, the punk band that prompted a revolution in the local music scene is portrayed in the most punk way possible, in a crazed remix of material looted for subversive, fun purposes from films, news and advertising, along with videos, live performances and statements by the band, accompanied with an imaginary interview guided by their songs.
First Prize at the 2014 Docks of the Bay festival (Donosti).
About the director
Kikol Grau got his start at BTV (Barcelona Televisió), a station where he worked for seven years as a director and editor of cultural programmes. In 1997 he won the "Miramar" prize for the best local television programme produced in Catalonia for his show Por la kara TV. In 2002 he won the honourable mention at the "Festival Zemos98" for the most acerbic television for his programme Gabinete de crisis, where he worked as a scriptwriter and director along with Félix Pérez-Hita and Arturo Bastón. Later, he won Seville’s Primer Festival Animalario (2007) for the same show. He continued working in different television stations, combining these jobs with his own personal work which drew him closer to the artistic circuit.
He created a television channel on the Internet, "Si te he visto no te aguanto TV", where he directs independent programmes and compiles a long list of alternative programmes of cultural interest. While he has never left television, where he has worked as an independent director for the TVE programme "Metropolis" for the past five years, he also works at the video archive and distributor Hamaca as a video technician and editor. His interest in music has led him to independently direct numerous video clips.
This is his second film after Objetivo Gadafi
