Esperit! A transplanted orchestra man from Montseny draws inspiration from the legacy left by rock and psychedelia from the Ona Laietana musical style of the seventies (Om, Música Dispersa, Pau Riba, etc.) with electronic bases. His free soul is just as comfortable in New York as in his hometown or the Heliogàbal. A rebellious, communicative globetrotter, when playing live he turns into a savage beast, always unpredictable, travelling along unexpected byways, bringing the audience to the edge of hypnosis. He is a child of birds, a hallucinogenic multi-instrumentalist, a capturer of sounds and hunter of melodies.

Pau Riba is one of the most irreverent, provocative figures on the Catalan music scene. Even though he is revered because of such widely acclaimed, benchmark records as Dioptria, Jo, la donya i el gripau and Licors, he has never become complacent and always celebrates the present with surprising new tunes, as can be seen on his latest records Virus laics and Mosques de colors (the latter along with Pascal Comelade). This time, Pau Riba will offer a solo acoustic performance featuring songs from his entire career. The performance itself encapsulates his role as a generational bridge as featured in the exhibition Popcèntric: on the one hand, Pau Riba issued his first records in Concèntric and was the graphic designer behind a huge number of the record’s launches, yet this evening he will also share the stage with Mau Boada (Esperit!), a brand-new musician with whom he is currently partnering on several projects.
