Introduction to the music of Helmut Lachenmann with live performance Pressures (1966) for solo cello. [participate Ellen Fallowfield (cello) and Luis Codera Puzo (moderation)]
21:00 pm
Concert / Helmut Lachenmann is one of the most important living composers of 20th century Europe. His treatment of sound, the meticulous exploration of the possibilities of the instruments and the unique ideas and relationships that these possibilities entail have led him to be one of the main representatives and creator of the term musique concrète instrumentale. In 2015, Lachenmann will be 80 years old. The CrossingLines ensemble considers it essential to pay homage to one of the key composers of today, and in doing so, attempt to correct the usual lack of broadcasting that the German composer suffers in this country.
CrossingLines offers a concert with two important pieces from the career of the composer: Interieur I, a spectacular score for multi percussion and one of his essential, most fundamental works, Allegro Sostentuto for a clarinet, cello and piano trio.
With a view to contextualising the concert's repertoire for the audience and to facilitating the listening experience, CrossingLines will give an introductory session to the composer's music in the centre's assembly hall one hour before the concert. In this session concrete examples of the composer's music will be given and the piece Pression for solo cello will be performed live.
